80′s Top Ten: #3 Duck Tales


Duck Tales is one of the original cartoon television series in the 80’s from Disney. Duck Tales premiered in 1987 and ended in 1990. Totaling out at 100 episodes and four seasons.

The overall plot was, Donald Duck was joining the Navy and left s nephews Huey, Dewie and Louie to live with their great uncle, Scrooge McDuck. The show also included some other fun characters like Launchpad McQuack and the butler Duckworth.

Most episodes revolved around Scrooge McDuck going on a wild adventure with the boys, and the some shady characters like the Beagle Boys or Magica De Spell trying to get Scrooges treasures.

Duck tales was a high quality cartoon, with the power of Disney behind it. Because of the success of Duck Tales it lead to other Disney cartoon series, like Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers and Talespin among other shows. When the show went off the air, a theatrical Duck Tales movie was released called  DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp featuring the original voice cast.

Most videogames based on tv series or movies are usually pretty bad, but the Duck Tales for the Nintendo Entertainment System was an exception. With great level design and a Mega Man type gameplay it was a great hit.

Unfortunately, as of right now, there are no current plans to bring back Duck Tales for a new series or movie, but you can always enjoy Scrooge McDucks adventures on DVD!
